Plant Stress Kit (PSK)

Plant Stress Kit Chlorophyll Fluorometers

The Plant Stress Kit (PSK) from Opti-Sciences Inc. provides an affordable and reliable solution for precise chlorophyll fluorescence measurements, enabling rapid and detailed assessments of plant physiological conditions under both dark and light-adapted scenarios.

Ideal for researchers and agronomists, this portable system includes specialized instruments for measuring FV/FM and Y(II), ensuring accurate identification and analysis of plant stress responses.

How it works

The Plant Stress Kit has two chlorophyll fluorometers to assess Photosystem II (PSII) efficiency:

Plant Stress Kit – Fv/Fm Meter

The Fv/Fm Meter

The FV/FM meter measures the maximum photochemical efficiency of PSII after dark adaptation, a crucial parameter indicating plant stress or damage.

It is particularly effective for rapidly screening large plant populations and provides reliable data even in bright sunlight, thanks to its clear graphical display and straightforward operation.

Plant Stress Kit – Y(II) Meter

Y(II) Meter

The Y(II) meter evaluates quantum yield under light conditions, making it exceptionally sensitive to a variety of plant stresses. It provides precise measurements of electron transport rates (ETR), leaf absorptance, photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), leaf temperature, and humidity.

This meter is highly beneficial for detailed stress studies and long-term monitoring under natural or laboratory-controlled conditions.

Key features

  • Dual Measurement Capability:
Measures both FV/FM and Y(II) to comprehensively evaluate plant stress responses.
  • Leaf Absorptance and Transmittance:
Utilizes RGB sensors to precisely measure leaf absorptance, correlating well with standard integrating sphere methods.
  • Automated Modulated Light Adjustment:
Ensures correct intensity settings automatically, enhancing accuracy and reliability.
  • Multi-Flash FM’ Correction (Loriaux 2013):
Accurately corrects fluorescence measurements under high actinic light conditions.
  • Innovative PAR Sensor:
Cosine-corrected PAR measurements ensure accurate readings irrespective of leaf orientation.
  • Extended Data Storage:
Stores up to 2GB of data, enabling extensive collection and analysis.
  • One-Handed Operation:
Ergonomic design allows single-handed measurements, ideal for fieldwork.
