Soil respiration can be defined as the net CO₂ production from soil. The amount of gas exchange taking place is frequently used as an indicator of microbial soil activity and so used to characterise the health of that soil.
To enable researchers to conduct sophisticated soil CO₂ flux experimentation, ADC has developed a range of systems that are suitable to assess the spatial and temporal variability of soil respiration. To measure the toxicological impact of agrochemicals on soil biomass, ADC has designed a substrate-induced respiration measurement system. This fully configured, laboratory system provides the user with long term measurements of gas exchange from multiple experimental samples.
